Toggle Item

Toggle Item is a control that toggles states or actions when selected.

Behaviours & States

Behaviour

Toggle Item is a focusable and selectable control with both the selected and deselected states clearly denoted as "ON" or "OFF".The text of these states is not configurable, but will be localized.

Toggle Items can either be independent or organized into groups. Individually, Toggle Items can be selected or deselected with no impact on other Toggle Items. However, when grouped only one Toggle Item can be selected at a time.

If one Toggle Item in a group is switched "ON" and a user selects a different item, the first will automatically switch to "OFF" and the current selection updates to "ON".

States

Normal (up/unpressed) The control is available for use and is not selected, in the "OFF" state.
Focus (hover) The control has the current focus from the remote and is ready to be selected.
Selected (down/pressed) The control has been selected and is in the "ON" state.
Deactivated (disabled) The control cannot be selected, the state is automatically "OFF".

Sizing

If the text within a Toggle Item is too long, the text will truncate with ellipsis and marquee (scroll) in the focus state. Since state is always represented, there is no need to worry about the selected state truncating as with Checkbox Item.
